phantasm preview party

two weeks ago, i helped host a preview party for my school's art and literary magazine, phantasm. for the first time ever, we invited the talented students who were published to a local coffee shop to see live performances and view the magazine before anyone else. 

all published students received this invitation which was designed by me and another student editor.

at my school I am an editor of our art and literary magazine, phantasm. last week we distributed our spring constellation themed publication. (hopefully i will be able to post some details from inside the magazine soon.) i am so proud of the final product.

strange happenings

i set my coke can on the table as the sun came through my bedrooms sky window. i left the room, and when i came back, the nutrition facts from the can were projected onto my table. i quickly photographed the table and three minutes later it was gone. i love strange happenings.

dye gallery

last week i displayed my dye piece at school of the art institute of chicago where i'm involved in the pre-college program. i displayed my performance video and fashion shots side by side in the space.

heres my new video for a concept that i'm still in the process of. it's a fashion and performance art piece. a month ago i had to get an mri scan which resulted in my needing surgery. they connected me to an i.v. this i.v. contained dye which was sent through my bloodstream in order to see the scan better. the dye was incredibly hot and i could feel it as it traveled throughout my body. as i looked up i could see visions of swimming pink and blue on the top of the scanner. i kept thinking about how these doctors were on a search for what was wrong with my body and the methods they chose to do this. the whole experience left me feeling uneasy and decided to translate it into both a garment and performance. here's where the project is at on the performance side. tomorrow i'll post what the garment looks like from a fashion perspective.

stickers

i had been fascinated with graffiti stickers for a long time so i finally decided to create my own. i'm currently giving them away to friends in the hopes that they'll put them up somewhere and one day i'll find my design on their bedroom walls or cleverly placed around the city.
